After spending his childhood between Cameroon and Gabon, at the age of 14 the young Benke began his musical career in France as a member of Les Greem’s in 2003. The siblings Lutif and Benké teamed up with their friend Y.H (for young hawk) to form Les Greem’s. They sang and rapped on HipHop sounds their personal experiences such as their childhood in Africa, immigration, adolescence. They modestly composed their first songs but with a lot of creativity. After several song and collaborations with artists like Kutson, the group journey ended in 2013. Benke decided to pursue a solo career because he was convinced of the power of his music. His music touch evolved thanks to his background and his influences (Bantou Po, Siya Po’osi X, Mc Solaar, Bob Marley, Shabba Ranks, Tiken Jah Fakoly, hiphop and 90s r & b such as the Boyz II Men, Jodeci or tupac). Benké created the AfroBogbes movement, not to be confused with Afrobeat. AfroBogbes which means “Afro let’s go” represents the fusion between African influences and different musical styles. Through Afrobogbes Benké skillfully mixes bassa, Jamaican patois, English and French in his lyrics, which creates a unique universe for each of his songs. You can enjoy his universe with his titles “jopbae”, “exit”, “Haut en bas”, “telep” and many other songs. In 2019 Benke, now called Benké Dondada, unites with YH to reveal the mixtape Melanin Gweha which is an ode of their love for Africa and black skin. In 2021, the first album of Benke Bogbes King will be available. It will be possible to discover even more about his universe.
