New single out 21st June 2021 – I LIKED IT BETTER
Drawing inspiration and name from the Japanese phrase (三日坊主:mikka bouzu), the music of Bedfordshire’s Three Day Monk (Tristan Nelson) is a narratively driven reflection of endeavouring & consumption. The fourth and final seasonal project single, ‘I Liked It Better’ marks Three Day Monk’s first dip into the indie genre, providing a signature spin; use of narrative songwriting, array of harmonies & an unconventional foray elsewhere mid-song. Inspiration derives from the “in-thing” of nostalgia, the fixation that is to consume it in all aspects of life and the rose-tinted perception of “better times”. Influenced from artists such as Ben Howard, Hiatus Kaiyote, Incubus & Fantastic Negrito, the music of Three Day Monk contains unintentional, unconventional structures that delve into metaphorical, situational matters that ask a simple question. What’s more terrifying than our reality?
