Some collaborations happen by chance and evolve into a shared artistic language built on trust, identity, and vision. That is the case with Lois Powell and Night Wolf, whose latest single Unstoppable marks their third collaboration together. Their creative partnership began after meeting at an open mic night in Bedford and has since grown into an ongoing artistic dialogue. Now both based in Norfolk (Lois originally from the Herts and Beds border, Night Wolf hailing from Luton), they continue to shape a sound rooted in emotional honesty and cinematic depth.
Unstoppable moves through a landscape of folk pop, dark-pop, electronic pop, trip-hop, and alternative pop, carrying an atmosphere that feels euphoric yet nostalgic, quirky yet relaxing. The track opens with a distorted acoustic guitar, immediately setting a textured and slightly fractured tone. From there, the production gradually expands into a trip-hop and alt-pop framework infused with indie pop energy and cinematic undertones.
Lyrically, the song explores resilience—but not in a polished, motivational sense. The positivity within the track is filtered through a “broken lens,” where hope coexists with fragility. Themes of distance, return, and delicate optimism shape the emotional core of the piece. The arrangement grows steadily, holding back its full lift until the closing moments, where an almost pop-ballad chorus emerges, strings rise, and the vocal performance reaches a clear and powerful climax. The balance between guitar grit and the late string swell gives the ending a sense of earned conviction.
Lois Powell writes and performs with unguarded vulnerability, and her voice has been championed multiple times by BBC Introducing for its delicacy and authenticity. Night Wolf, a UK-based producer, sound designer, and engineer, builds story-first soundscapes that blend cinematic trip-hop, ambient textures, minimalism, and pop influences. Since 2018, he has released music through labels such as Flipper Music, Deneb Records, and Barry Music, with placements spanning global productions, including projects featured on Netflix, Channel 4, and Sky, alongside work connected to major sports networks and international broadcasters.
With Unstoppable, the duo continues to refine a sound that feels emotionally grounded yet visually expansive—music that stands strongly on its own while naturally lending itself to screen storytelling.
1. Unstoppable is your third collaboration together. How has your creative dynamic evolved since your first project, and what feels different this time around?
L.P:
This time around we wanted to be better. We jumped into things quickly and laid down the whole song in an afternoon. It was then time to experiment using all my lyrics and some guitar too. I felt much more passionate singing, especially in the chorus and the “breathe air” section and the ending, getting some cool vocals for the record.
N.W:
The first two songs I had written lyrics for and had already started to build the ideas, whereas the second two songs we made together—this one and our next release The Laws Of Life—were created on the spot together. Lois had sent me a voice recording of her playing a song on guitar and I really liked the riff she was playing. So I asked her to play it while recording at my studio to start building the track.
It was quite a different approach and paid off really well, I think. Lois had a lot more free rein on this song with her vocals and she wrote the lyrics, etc. By this point it had become easier to know how to work with each other.
2. The track opens with a distorted acoustic guitar and gradually builds toward a cinematic, string-led climax. How did you approach structuring that emotional arc in the production?
L.P:
For the vocals I just sang the lyrics I had written with vigor, and Night Wolf used those vocals to create a story arc the way he thought worked best.
N.W:
It just made sense as we were creating the song. The song is leading to that final moment where it all finally comes together. It would not have made sense to me to have that repeat early in the song, so it naturally builds and flows the way it does.
I really enjoy blending string elements with gritty textures layered over them. This was a fun song to make and the ideas came very easily—what I heard in my head translated quickly onto the track, so to speak. Lois had sung quite a few versions and this one stuck the most.
3. The lyrics explore resilience through a fragile, almost fractured perspective. What inspired that emotional lens, and how personal is the narrative behind the song?
L.P:
The narrative is personal. I had been through a lot and had recently done therapy for it. This song was the realization of that newfound strength and feeling of being unstoppable, yet also the recognition of what had come before.
Funnily enough, I thought this was the most positive song I’d ever done and didn’t even notice the fractured nature of it—the broken parts were just facts, while the positivity was the new part.
4. The song feels naturally “sync-ready,” with strong visual and cinematic qualities. When creating music together, do you consciously think in terms of imagery and storytelling for screen?
L.P:
I think I naturally tend to tell stories through my writing and vocals, and Night Wolf does the same since he’s made lots of music for film and TV. So it naturally came out that way.
I’m not writing lyrics with much conscious thought—mostly just vibes. It would be interesting to do a writing course to analyze my writing a bit more and maybe add a bit more flair or quality.
N.W:
I am always, I guess, a little conscious of what might work for placements, but I don’t allow it to direct what I create—it’s just in the back of my mind. I prefer creating what I feel in the moment regardless of what anyone else might think, or whether it might be used for something other than people simply listening to it.
I enjoy blending cinematic styles into my music and have been experimenting with orchestral VSTs for a while now. I feel like I add my own touch to whatever genre I’m creating. Lois singing while we were building the track also strongly directed the feeling and flow of the production.
I think our songs could do very well in a James Bond film or something similar. I’ve also created a page on my website where you can lease songs, including these ones, for visual projects, and where you can listen to my back catalog and other collaborations: www.nightwolfuk.com
5. You blend influences such as folk pop, dark-pop, trip-hop, electronic pop, and alternative pop. How do you maintain authenticity while moving across such a wide stylistic spectrum?
L.P:
I think we are both just vibing to what we think sounds good. I sing the way I normally sing, without necessarily thinking about what style it is. I listen to what Night Wolf has put together and that influences me too. So it all coagulates.
N.W:
I really try not to listen to music for a day or two—or even watch TV—so I can create from an influence-free space in my head, if that is even possible. I’ve never wanted to sound like another artist or try to fit into a mold or be pigeonholed as a producer, and I aim to maintain that.
It’s really about how a song makes me feel, or how I am feeling before producing, that dictates how the song ends up sounding. I really enjoy working with other people because it pushes me further too. Being able to create a song together so quickly and know where we are going without really trying is amazing. I’m sure we’ll venture into other realms as we create more music together.
Our next release is The Laws of Life, which comes out on EscaVolt Records on March 21, 2026. After that we are looking at creating music videos for each song so we can expand the storytelling around the music.
