Inrocks Lab award-winner band Orouni forge a link between music, cinema, literature, architecture and photography. They cite The Kinks, Leonard Cohen and Stereolab among their influences, as well as West African music. In line with the likes of Paul Simon’s work, their latest album ‘Grand Tour’ blends Anglo melodic pop music with instruments collected from around the world. In 2017, the Parisian act received a prize at the Linkaband contest giving it access to the legendary Studios Davout, where Orouni was able to record a song before the studio shut down. The ‘Somewhere In Dreamland’ EP released in November 2017 was called “an enchanting mini-album” by Libération, a leading French newspaper which also named Orouni as “the up-and-coming French band”. Today, Orouni, considered by Magic magazine to be one of the “40 French bands which unleash pop music” have finished recording a new album.
