Retratos

“Retratos” ( “Portraits” in english) brings poetry and ancestry, a connection – but extremely substantial – that permeates the fabric of existence and a meaning of recognizing oneself as a woman in the collective. In her new music video, the artist Ana Matielo is surgical, poetic, but extremely provocative and sarcastic, bringing restlessness and reflection to those who hear her voice and the women who accompany her in her portraits. The music shared by the singer gains cores and movement in the video directed by Elizabeth Thiel.
Through intelligent camera movements and the performance of Ana and bassist Dy Ferranddis, the video makes us feel that restlessness that the verses of the lyrics propose, as well as reflecting the search for oneself through the connection with the ancestry and sorority present in the art by Ana Matielo in screenings by women in the family and artists who participated in the album.
“Clara” is the singer’s first EP that proposes dialogues between ancestry, feminist studies and their experiences, under the sound and rhythmic influence of traditional rhythms from Brazil and Latin America.
