The Buddyrevelles are on the precipice of concluding their Trilogy of the EPs series, a three-year creative journey spanning three EPs. This project will culminate with the release of The Conviction, scheduled to arrive in June 2026. The band is now sharing new material in anticipation of the upcoming EP, including their latest single, “Make the Dings Louder,” released on May 22nd, 2026.
In this second single from The Conviction, “Make the Dings Louder” opens with strong instrumentation that immediately establishes its presence. The track is characterized by dynamic vocal interplay and layered vocal melodies, building momentum through a series of engaging hooks. As it progresses, the song continues to develop in texture and structure, ultimately arriving at a powerful conclusion that includes well-placed trumpet work. The arrangement is designed to hold attention throughout, with elements that remain present in the listener’s mind after the track ends.
The Buddyrevelles were formed in 1997 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin by Aaron Grant (guitar & vocals), Scott Hoch (bass & vocals), and Dan Reinholdt (drums). In 1998, the band released their debut album September, November and later relocated to Chicago. That record introduced their sound through melodic layered guitars, vulnerable vocals, over-driven bass tones, and propulsive drumming, establishing their identity within an accessible indie pop framework.
Their second album, American Matador (2000), expanded their approach by incorporating more complex song structures and instrumental passages while maintaining their indie rock foundation. In 2007, they released Don’t Quit on Chicago’s Solitaire Records. That album distilled their earlier work into a more focused 32-minute set of indie pop songs, reflecting both refinement and continuity in their style.
The current Trilogy of the EPs represents the fulfillment of a long-term artistic intention first outlined following the release of Don’t Quit. The idea of a follow-up project was originally discussed in 2007, with plans evolving over time into what became this trilogy.
The series began in 2024 with The Consolation, a four-track EP shaped by themes related to time and endurance. In 2025, the second EP, The Concession, introduced a different tonal direction, balancing darker material with more hopeful elements. Now, The Conviction, arriving in June 2026, is described as containing five indie rock songs that continue the band’s established approach while closing the trilogy’s arc.
A poem included with the project reflects on time, cycles, and persistence, referencing recurring imagery such as the abacus, the pear, and the tree. These motifs connect the three EPs thematically, emphasizing continuity and return.
“‘Make the Dings Louder’ finds The Buddyrevelles working with a tightly constructed arrangement that steadily builds from its opening instrumentation into layered vocal interplay and a carefully developed ending. The track reflects the band’s ongoing focus on structure, melody, and dynamic progression as they move toward the release of The Conviction.”
As the release of The Conviction approaches, the Trilogy of the EPs stands as a structured and deliberate chapter in the band’s discography, connecting their earlier work with their current output while maintaining continuity across decades of activity.
